The Gorean City of Lara

WELCOME TO THE CITY OF LARA

laracity_1_.jpg

The Gorean City of Lara is based on books by John Norman. A unique city of Gor, where peace and tranquility can be found. Follow where your path may lead you and come to visit.

Lara is a walled northern city-state, allied with Koroba, which occupies the strategic junction of the Vosk and Olni rivers. This city is part of the Salerian Confederation. A freshwater port, it is otherwise typical of the mighty walled settlement of central civilized Gor.

Lara is known for its skilled Warriors, excellent sailors, and superbly trained slaves; it is similar to many of the walled city-states of ancient Earth Greece.

City Library

The city Library has thousands of books and scrolls about the history of Lara.  Also, you will find the history of Ti,Port Olni, and Vonda.    There is reading material also about the Salerian Confederation.

There is also a big selection of history information about all the cities of Gor and Gorean history in general as well as literature writtem by many authors of Gor.  The library is a great source of information no matter what your questions are.  You should have no problem finding the answers if you do your research in the City's Library

Lara is a walled northern city-state, allied with Ko-ro-ba, which occupies the stratigic juncture of the Vosk and Olni rivers.  A freshwater port, Lara is in many ways typical of the mighty walled settlements of central civilized Gor, renowned for its skilled warriors, excellent sailors and superbly trained slaves.

To the Urthan, Lara may be likened to many of the walled city-states of ancient Earth Greece.  Lara's citizens are noted for their toughness, and extreme independence even by Gorean standards,  In Lara, the reward for declaring oneself Ubar is death, usually by slicing or some other creative, festive means.

So we see from the scrolls that Lara has a history of being a shelter for various refugees of the incessant Gorean wars, and that there are many Inns in the city, although<of course> few as fine as teh Gor-famous Ti.

Also, Lara and the city of Ar have a history of non-belligerance, or lessened bellecosity <at least>, and the chief concern of the Arrans, indeed, of the Larans themselves, were raiding forces of Cos, and the river pirates who preyed on all alike.

Suprisingly enough, Lara is the home of Oryx, the Mapmaker and Explorer of some note, and his lovely and gracious Free Companion, Lorelle.

Salerian Confederation:  It is also known as the Four Cities of Saleria.  The Confederation consists of the cities of Ti, Vonda, Port Olni, and Lara, which all lie on the Olni River.  The largest and principal city is Ti.  The Confederation is a growing power in the north.  Ti is farthest from the joining of the Olni and Vosk Rivers, Port Olni is next in line, then Vonda and Lara.  Lara lies at the junction of the Olni and Vosk Rivers.

This alliance is one reason the Olni River is mostly free of pirates.   The Confederation got its name because the oath of the league was signed in the meadow of Salerius on the northern bank of the Olni between Port Olni and Vonda.  The Confederation maintains close relations with Cos due to their mutual distrust with Ar.

Lara!" she cried. "Lara!" This was a town in the Salerian Confederation at the confluence of Vosk and Olni.
